The Inner Richmond is a destination for food lovers, students at the University of San Francisco and anyone looking to explore the massive parks that paint the outer edges of San Francisco, but its hometown feel charms anyone who values ample space and a little distance from downtown.
The Inner Richmond is known for its convenience to lush green parks, the spaciousness of its homes and, of course, its restaurants with cuisines that span the globe, and you can explore a new one night after night after night.
Shopping and eating are both Inner Richmond pastimes, especially along busy Clement St. where you can stroll in and out of bookstores, ice cream shops, crafty boutiques and family-owned shops — or peruse the weekly farmer’s market with the whole family.
With the Presidio to the north and Golden Gate Park to the south, the Inner Richmond is bordered by almost 2,500 acres of green space, which makes biking or picnicking on weekends so easy, you may forget you’re in a city at all.
You’ll find more square-footage in the apartments and homes in the Inner Richmond — even some with backyards — than in many other neighborhoods around the city. The median home value here is $1.9 million, which makes it pricey, but not top dollar in expensive San Francisco.
Deciding where to eat among the dozens of restaurants available in this walkable neighborhood with the heart of a small town will be your biggest worry, but cooking in won’t bother you too much either, since you’re likely to find a home with plenty of space to stretch out and relax.
